Still Sovereign

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high
Hebrews 1.1-3, ESV

Jesus upholds the universe by the word of his power. Because of the cross, his sacrifice on it and his resurrection, Jesus is the heir of all things. He owns all things because he created all things. He owns all things because He reigns supreme! He is supreme over all things including money, organizations, politics and He is reigning supreme even over those in rebellion against Him! There are things in the news that happened last week that might tempt you to believe the opposite and lead you to shift your hope on to things like petitions, money, Christian organizations and Christian politicians. This does not in any way mean we do not pray and work for righteousness. However, we do not put our hope in those things because we know that not one thing happened this week outside the sovereignty of God. He is STILL on his throne! And he is using everything, trials and smiling providences alike, for His glory and for the good of those who love him. He is the appointed heir of ALL things. That is our Savior, not weak and defeated, but victorious and reigning... even this morning no matter what the headlines might lead you to think, for “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever" (Hebrews 1.8).
